Meet Amanda Rudd
I received my Master’s in Social Work from Roberts Wesleyan College in 2007. I went on to work as a Primary Adult Therapist at the Genesee Mental Health Center, downtown Rochester. During my 5 ½ years there, I gained the experience, training and licensure to realize that I loved the work itself but was ready to do it on my own. I began my private practice in May 2012, and during that time have focused my practice on improving the mental health of individuals 18 year and older. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP).
I use an eclectic approach to tailor the sessions to your needs and goals. My most utilized frameworks include Attachment Theory, Developmental Needs Meeting Strategy, and Internal Family Systems/Parts work.
You will often find Spencer in the office with me. A certified Therapy Dog through The Bright and Beautiful Therapy Dogs organization, Spencer the Cavachon (a made up term for designer mutts - he’s half Bischon Frise and half Cavalier King Charles Spaniel) loves to come to work and greet each of our clients. He is meant to bring a sense of warmth and home to each session, and can also alleviate the anxiety that therapy sometimes produces. I love to have him on my team!
When I am not in the office, I am home with my family. Along with my husband, I am practicing what I preach out in the world with our two young girls. Home/work balance is very important to me, and something I am actively keeping in mind. I fill my free time with reading, enjoying what sunshine Rochester will offer, and reminding Spencer of respecting boundaries.
